Liberal Democrats are now Working with Labour in North Herts to Jointly Run the District Council

North Herts LogoAt the end of May 2019, North Herts Liberal Democrat councillors agreed an administrative arrangement with the Labour Party to run North Herts District Council over the succeeding twelve months.

This arrangement will allow them to pursue the agenda they campaigned on during the 2019 District Council Elections and deliver positive changes for residents.

This includes creating a greener North Hertfordshire, improving air quality across the district, ending a culture of secrecy and creating a transparency charter, improving public engagement with the Council and improvements to the planning system.

It gives the Lib Dem councillors 6 seats in the new NHDC Cabinet, allowing them a key role in the running of the Council.

Cllr Steve Jarvis has been appointed as the Cabinet Member responsible for the Environment and for Leisure. He is the Co-Chair of the Cabinet Panel on the Environment of North Herts District Council, the other Co-Chair being the Labour Councillor Elizabeth Dennis-Harburg.
