Nigel Quinton Selected to Fight SW Herts for Lib Dems

Experienced Lib Dem campaigner Nigel Quinton is to fight the S W Herts Parliamentary Seat quinton colouragainst the struggling Financial Secretary to the Treasury, David Gauke.

Nigel Quinton lives in Lemsford with his wife and two teenage daughters. He was brought up in a Liberal family, his mother being a Councillor for many years in Bristol and Lancaster. After graduating as a geologist, Nigel had a successful career in the tough world of oil exploration in a mix of large and small companies which included Hertfordshire based start-ups Dragon Oil and Sterling Energy.

He has served as a Councillor and as local party chairman in Welwyn Hatfield and was selected as PPC in 2010 for Hitchin & Harpenden, boosting the Lib Dem vote close to15,000.

Nigel has worked on party policy regarding sustainable employment and carbon capture, and is an opponent of Trident. He has been a keen advocate of a low carbon economy, has spoken publicy on Peak Oil and worked with local Transition Town initiatives.

Nigel says "The issues facing the people of SW Hertfordshire are ones I have been campaiging on for the last 10 years - a vibrant sustainable economy, the NHS, our environment, and improving our political system. I hope to fight a positive campaign and highlight the case for progressive new policies."
