Lib Dems force Cameron to Back Aid Law

July 5, 2014 10:21 AM

clippingThe Conservatives look set to back the Lib Dems' proposal to commit Britain to spend 0.7% of its national income on international aid after a private members' bill was unveiled by Michael Moore, Lib Dem MP for for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk.

Liberal Democrats, Labour and the Conservatives all included a commitment to the legislation in their 2010 manifestos.

But since the election, the Prime Minister appeared to have dismissed the idea, however it has been reported that Tory leadership has caved to Lib Dem pressure and will back the bill in a commons vote.
