Half of all cancers could be prevented by lifestyle changes. If you need to make changes, it's best to do it before you are 30.
1. Give up Smoking - the most important one of all. (It's not just cancer where smoking is concerned - one smoker in two will die from a smoking-related disease.)
2. Stay in Shape - keep to a healthy weight. (Being overweight or obese increases your risk of several cancers)
3. Eat and Drink Healthily - alcohol increases your risk of certain cancers, escpecially if you smoke. (Limit the amount of alcohol you drink and aim at 5 portions of fruit and veg per day.)
4. Be Sunsmart - cover up and don't get sunburnt. (Watch moles for any changes and get these or any unusual skin blemishes checked by a doctor.)
5. Know your Body - be aware of changes and contact a doctor if you notice anything unusual. (Go for screening when invited - it could save your life.)
