Most of the issues and local campaigns outstanding before the election are still outstanding afterwards. Prominent among these is the WD3 school issue. This now comes up at every county council meeting and the Lib Dem Group continues to put pressure on the Conservative majority on HCC to get the problem sorted.
Three Rivers District Council identified five sites some time ago. The County Council should now respond. The Conservatives need to make a definite commitment, consult on a preferred site and publish a timetable.
As residents and supporters of WD3 parents group will know, County Councillors Mark Watkin and Ron Tindall, Liberal Democrat Education Spokepersons continue to lead in pressing County on the building of a new secondary school in SW Hertfordshire. Prior to the Council Meeting on 18th May, we were told that Three Rivers officials were in discussion with County officials regarding the suitability of the five sites Three Rivers had proposed for the new school. These discussions should be completed in September 2010.
To ensure that the county continued to keep the new school a priority, Ron Tindall at the Council Meeting on 18th May, asked if it was true that there had been delays in the discussions over the sites proposed by Three Rivers District council. He was given an assurance that there had not been any delays and that discussions were continuing.
There seems to be some confusion about what is happening and this is not helpful when everyone is pressing Hertfordshire to get on with building the new school. For the most up-to-date situation contact Ron or Mark on - Ron.Tindall@hertscc.gov.uk or Mark.Watkin@hertscc.gov.uk
